Such Wonderful Family and Friends

Sunday, July 29th we had the third of 3 showers in Holton, KS. It was amazing. Although I was not there to see the unwrapping of what can only be described as a mountain of baby paraphernalia, I was witness to the packing and unpacking of said paraphernalia. By witness I mean I moved a lot of it.

I'd just like to thank anyone and everyone who has helped us out with these unborn children, it is truly amazing and we are truly blessed to have such wonderful friends and family.

Stephanie will be 33 weeks along on Thursday (or Friday, depending on who you ask, the floating babies think Thursday, the doctor I believe says every Friday). She is getting quite uncomfortable as we apparently live in the middle of the Sahara, which is the only way to explain the lack of rain and hot conditions. You hear me, Gary Lezak? You liar! Ok, it felt good to get that out there.

Please keep us in your thoughts and prayers. We're entering the home stretch!

Happy Birthday Stephanie/Mom!!

Today is Stephanie's 29th birthday, later she'll go out for some major drinks and probably stay out all night.

Just kidding! We're in for a low-key birthday filled with Mexican Food and probably an early bedtime. Our lives are on par with the Paint Drying Channel. We, however, do not mind.

Yesterday Gloria surprised Stephanie with a visit from her 2 aunts, Ellen and Jo and two of her cousins, Emma and Meggie. They flew in from somewhere East, near an ocean. Tonight we're picking up Cliff, Susan, Samantha and Jake from the airport and tomorrow going to the last of three baby showers in Holton where we'll see my parents and a ton of other people I'm sure. Here's hoping we get the PlayStation 3 I secretly registered for...for the young ones' entertainnment, of course.

Stephanie got a video camera for her birthday from her man, who would be me, to capture all of the spectacular-ness of the twins when they arrive...and perhaps the occassional throw up.

Well, all for now, but hey, I'm getting more of these in than usual. I must not be working hard enough around the house.

Almost like when people found out that soylent green was...people...

Friday, July 13th, we had a 3D ultrasound. Regardless of what some of you may think it was not an ordeal in which we put on red and green tinted glasses and sat in front of a screen in which babies spewed forth toward us. It was more like watching a TV show featuring a lava lamp at times. This was quite the experience, for us and the soon-to-be grandparents, as they could watch the ultrasound via live streaming video (ah, technology). Stephanie had to drink Mt. Dew beforehand so the babies would move; and move they did! She got somewhat uncomfortable because of the length of time of the ultrasound but all in all, it was worth it!

We did get a couple VERY cute pictures as you'll see below. The little boy was more generous with his face time than the girl since she was basically curled around his head and her face was therefore obstructed for most of the time. The pictures below are of the little boy and little girl. The girl's picture is a little skewed due to the fact that it's a profile shot (no, her nose won't look like this in real life) and not a straight on face shot like the little boys.

Holy God, an update!

Yesterday Stephanie and I had another baby appointment (she'll be 29 weeks on Friday!), which seem to be getting more regular than the cycles of the moon. Everyone, however, is exciting because we get to see where the twins are and updated on how big they are growing.

Twin A (boy) is now 2 lbs 9 oz and Twin B (girl) is 2 lbs 5 oz. The boy is actually in a breach position, which isn't necessarily bad since there is still time for his little tookus to move. The girl is in a transverse position which means that she's basically sucking on her own toes. Finding out how these babies are positioned is sometimes a cringe-worthy task. Like a frame out of a B Horror film about yoga or something. Ouch! Maybe they get their flexibility from me. I can still touch my toes while standing, although, afterward I cannot walk for nearly 5 days.

We got a very nice picture of the profile of the little boy. I thought he resembled me, Stephanie thought he looked like a monkey. I guess we'll see who's right...or maybe we both are? Hmmm. We only got what I like to refer to as the "Skeletor" picture of the little girl's face. Anyone who's see a baby's face straight on in an ultrasound can appreciate what I'm saying.

The Beard groweth ever longer, the Belly groweth ever out...eth

Hello fellow Twins baby blog readers!



Yesterday we had a doctors appointment along with yet another sonogram. The sonograms are spectacular. It's always neat to see where the babies are actually positioned inside. Since the tots are getting ever-larger, it's getting difficult to make out what we are seeing (being the sonogram lay-people we are).



Here's an example: What I thought looked like a squished head was actually the placenta. I also thought I saw a tiny screwdriver, turns out it was a renal, or, what I learned yesterday, a kidney (there are now 6 kidneys inside of Stephanie).



The babies are estimated to be 1 lb 8 oz (boy) and 1 lb 7 oz (girl). As Stephanie's mom pointed out and in a moment that showed her true wisdom, the extra ounce on the boy is most definitely all penis. *beams*



For those of you who do not know, I have been growing a beard for the past 2 months or so. I am/was quite proud of this feat. Recently (read: this morning) I trimmed it down so that my face no longer looks like a sasquatch's butt. Stephanie continues to look pregnant, but only in her stomach, which is desirable for her. She'll be 25 weeks on Friday!

So keep us in your thoughts as you drift off to sleep at night. Remember we're sleeping with a giant Sponge Bob body pillow which supports our babies and my wife.

An update of multiple proportions!

In case you were wondering and have no desire to read through the ramblings of a future father, yes, the title of this blog is indeed indicative of the number of babies in my wife's stomach.

We're having TWINS! Take a minute for yourself, take a deep breath. Resume reading.

We were surprised, too! We had an ultrasound and sure enough, there are two babies in there. Affectionately named "Twin A" and "Twin B" they are stacked on top of one another. We are fairly certain of gender as well. Twin A or the bottom twin we believe to be a boy (my dad was right!) and Twin B or the top twin we believe to be a girl (I was right!). So chances are we'll have a boy who will have a younger sister!

The ultrasound is truly amazing, not since the advent of the sonic boom has sound intrigued me so much! You can see the twins kicking one another which is hopefully a sign of things to come. Not really, though. Violence, as the twins will learn doesn't solve anything.

Stephanie will be 20 weeks on Friday, May 11. This marks the halfway point of a single birth pregnancy. For multiples, however, we are most likely past the halfway point.

Exciting Happenings!

My blog prowess in the past month and a half has been that of a sloth. I've been metaphorically hanging from the tree of a new job, pending move and school by my curved trifecta of claws. Simply put, I've been neglecting the Tiny Norgren Blog. No more, I tell you!

On March 19th, I heard one of the most interesting and important sounds I think I ever will hear. The flutter of a new little heart. A heart that races as fast as a snare drum roll. 170 bpm. Pretty ok, if I do say so myself. Little thing must be in there working on its cardio already! It'll probably come out with a six pack or something. Amazing little gem.

Tomorrow, Friday, April 13 (dun dun dun!) Stephanie will be 16 weeks along. That's four months to you and me. Can you believe it?? I really can't. Time is flying by and her little tummy is starting to grow ever-so-slightly.

It's an exciting and busy time in the Norgren household, that is for certain! I'll make sure to post more frequently on here. Maybe we'll have belly pictures sometime soon if the sloth in me gets new batteries for the camera!
